I read the article, Pointless Babble or Enabled Backchannel: ConferenceUse of Twitter by DigitalHumanists, this week and although I have never been to a conference, I found this idea quite interesting. The article was about using tweets to find what topics were trending between the people attending the conference, and what was being said between them. This was done in order to share ideas, without discussing, and taking up time throughout the whole conference. Even though it sounds like a difficult process, the end results could be very effective. I assume that at conferences, there’s a lot of people trying to explain what they mean, when this process could cycle through all the tweets and show what people thought about during the conference.
