Haha! I think this is funny. Nothing’s “official” until it’s put on a social media site.

Haha this definitely made me laugh. I see a lot of people posting specific details of their lives onto social media sites. It just makes me wonder how much is too much to put out, because employers often look at social networking sties during the hiring process–my mom works for a company that looks up possible interns on Facebook to learn more about them before actually hiring–how much of the personal postings have made candidates lose a potential job opportunity?

Unfortunately I have caught myself saying ‘It’s not official until it’s on Facebook.” Social media really does run our lives we don’t even consider relationships to be new/over until its on Facebook. I’ll always hear about people breaking up but I will be unsure if they really are or not because it will still be posted on FB. Though I wonder how this will change because Facebook is starting to not be ‘cool’ anymore, at least in my eyes.

Sometimes it’s really annoying that there’s even an option to be “in a relationship” with someone on Facebook because I know this couple that breaks up on the regular and she wants to make sure that the whole world knows when that is. Also she will post mean things about him when shes mad but then post on his wall say what a good boyfriend he is a few days later. Sometimes relationship just need to stay off of Facebook because hey, I know I don’t really care. The only time I do care is when I have noticed people kinda coupling up and when they make it official on Facebook I can congratulate them. I personally have never been Facebook offic with anyone, only a fake engagement and he broke it off with out even telling me! rude!

Love the conversation this has started! I know many comments focused on FB, but I feel celebrities are always in battles over Twitter [for some reason LeAnn Rimes comes to mind] and the media loves highlighting that, even when the celebrities delete the original tweets.
